Stone sets the module. Once the coursing and the joint width are fixed, the
openings, the sill heights and the floor-to-floor dimension all follow from it,
and the steel can be sized to suit. Reversing that order means cutting stone to
fit a frame that was never dimensioned for it.
The saving is not in the material but in the drawings. A wall that resolves on
the module needs fewer special pieces, fewer site decisions and fewer of the
small compromises that accumulate into a building that reads as approximate.
